Match the design to the actual space
A reference image is only the starting point for architectural metalwork. Existing walls, floor finishes, routes and fixing areas affect how the design can be implemented. Send current site photographs with the proposed plan for a home, shop or office. Mark dimensions that still need verification on site.
Identify interfaces with other trades
If metalwork meets timber, glass, electrical installations or wall finishes, discuss the work sequence early. Agree who approves each dimension, when fixing areas will be ready and who completes the final finish. Share changes through a common drawing version so that different teams do not work from conflicting information.
Include the delivery route
Assess whether fabricated parts can pass through doors, stairs or lifts before delivery. These conditions may influence the choice between a single assembly and site connections. Include working hours, building access and protection of existing surfaces in the installation brief. Structural or safety-critical applications also need assessment by appropriately qualified project teams.
